Winter
Winter takes the color of the trees and replaces it with a beautiful
white blanket of snow. More time is spent warming over that extra hot cup of coffee at breakfast. Wintry
getaways for a romantic and relaxing weekend are very popular with us
during this season .
Fire and Ice Festival, early January, in nearby Somerset is a truly
unique winter festival. Ice sculptors display their works of art
throughout the center of town. Small rings of fire spread along the
walking path provide warmth from the winter cold.
Outdoor
Adventures:
Skiing is the most popular outdoor activity during the winter season. With 4 downhill ski resorts in the area (Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, The Wisp, and Nemacolin Woodlands) and Laurel Ridge State Park's cross country trails, it's no wonder that the area experiences it heaviest influx of tourists during the ski season. Along with the ski resorts providing downhill, snowboarding, and snow tubing, we have excellent cross-country skiing at the farm and on the Great Allegheny Passage. Horse pulled sleigh rides, snow mobiles, and sledding can all be found nearby. Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, popular destinations for many of our guests, have reduced operational schedules, contact us for details.
